Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, Florida

1

During our last trip (the epic road trip/cruise), I realised after our first night staying in Walt Disney World – ticking off my last Disney value resort ; ) , we would be driving south down the coast, and what is there – Disney’s Vero Beach Resort! It isn’t even that far, its less than 2 hours drive.

Once seeing all that information put together, I knew it was fate/destiny – we HAD to stay there. I had to ring USA to book it, as there is no online option. We booked one night as we was restricted with days and dates.

Disney’s website describes it as “this elegant old-fashioned hideaway is located on Florida’s scenic Atlantic Treasure Coast”.

Upon arrival we parked out front and checked in, I loved the mural behind the reception. There is normally cookies on offer until a certain time, which had ended but she went and got us some anyway! There was also always iced water available.

The Cast Member insisted on giving us first time visit badges, and we had a quick look round the lobby. We had a room in the main building, so you could see the hotel door from the lobby! The view was unfortunately facing the front so it was the car park (we was only there one night so wasn’t too fussed).

We dropped the cases off, then went out the back of the lobby and went exploring. We turned left and walked along, we found the fire pit, and then turned the other way, there was the pool, the entrance to the beach, hammocks, the restaurant, a grab and go food place, the outside bar etc.

We didn’t go in the pool as it was slightly chilly (we was there in February). We explored all inside, there was so much to look at on the walls! The shop (I didn’t buy anything!), there was a spa down one end, and just before that was a games room – there was books to borrow and board games and puzzles set up. There was also a digital changing display of all the daily activities available at the resort (and nearby – we was intrigued by a local brewery tour but couldn’t make the times).

That evening, we stayed in the resort – we went to The Green Cabin Room which is the resorts main lounge. It was cool as you could access it from inside and outside. There was some decking outside that overlooked the sea (I read that on a Sunday they offered sunrise mimosas!). We had a few drinks and dinner in there as they had a live singer who played lovely chilled music. It must have been quiet season as the resort didn’t feel too busy.

The room was nice, and I do believe within the last 18 months – 2 years they had all been refurbed. It was a studio room so had a mini kitchen too. Beds was nice and comfy, very clean.

The next morning we had breakfast at the resort, at the Wind & Waves Grill, I chose pina colada pancakes! After we went for a walk on the beach and I took some photos looking back at the resort (see first picture), had another wonder around. They had all cottages along the resort that was named after different turtles, they looked so cute!

We didn’t actually get time to see the grounds opposite with the sports equipment/games etc! Check out was 11am and we had a drive and next resort booked.

I’m so glad I got to see and stay here, it’s always kind of been on my radar of Disney things to do (parents have stayed a few years ago). It had a old beach club/yacht club vibe feel. It was very chilled, no one was rushing and the children there was minimal (I’m guessing summer is different!). I would like to have taken part in some of the activities, but we was pressed for time. It was quite expensive – to stay, eat and drink etc, but it was more of a deluxe Disney resort. I’m sure all Disney fans have been or are planning to stay one day.

Have you ever visited or stayed here? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Walt Disney World – Saratoga Springs Resort

ss6

I thought I would write about Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. We stayed here previously in the year for the first time, and we have recently booked for next year.

According to Disney website, they describe the resort as “Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is an equestrian-themed, Victorian-style Resort hotel”.

We chose this resort as there was five adults and a baby travelling. We saved more money by booking a two bedroom villa then two separate standard rooms.

Out of the Disney villa resorts, Saratoga Springs consistently came up the cheapest, and none of us had stayed at this resort, so it was chosen (another one off the list!).

In our villa, we had two double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, the front room (which also was my bedroom as I slept on the pull out sofabed) and a patio. (We was on the ground floor). The rooms also come with washer/dryer, one of the baths is a whirlpool. There was plenty of room for all of us, and technically it could sleep up to eight people! I liked the Maximus pillows!

We had a room in The Grandstand section, this had benefits/disadvantages. This is the first stop for buses, so we often got a seat, but then had to amuse a one year old and add extra travel time to the journey whilst it went all the way around the resort! It was very time consuming, as it’s such a large resort!

ss4

You check in at The Carriage House, this is also where quick service (Artist’s Palette) and a sit down restaurant is (The Turf Club Bar & Grill). I only had a few breakfast’s here… Mickey Waffles! And a not so great lunch. We didn’t go to the sit down restaurant, so I can’t comment on that. (There’s just too much other choice).

We visited Disney springs a lot, as there is a lovely boat ride to the Springs. There is walkways, I myself didn’t walk it, but my family did and said it was quite a walk. We think it’s because we was on the far end of the resort.

ss5

There was lots of photo ops around the resort, but I just didn’t get the chance to get to them! Maybe next year, when I have a bit of spare time. This particular one is right outside the main doors to the reception, so I got this one!

ss9

I think there was five pools. This was the one nearest to our room block. There was also a big main pool by The Carriage House. I didn’t go, but my family did! All very family friendly.

ss7

I would really recommended if there are groups/families travelling together. We made use of the kitchen mostly in the mornings, as we bought cereal/bread and used the coffee machine. Which if we was in a rush (I had four backstage tours – so saved time in the morning!), or if you wasn’t on the dining plan, could definitely save money for food.

It’s definitely not my favourite resort, (The Polynesian has my heart) but it did grow on me. I am looking forward to next year already!

My Favourite Disney Resort at Walt Disney World

1

I’ve decided to write about my favourite Disney resort – Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. I know everyone has their own preferences and beloved bases, and this is mine.

I have stayed here twice before. Years and years ago (aah the good old fountain lobby – which I still miss), I stayed with my family for two weeks! (I think this is before sky high rates!), and the second time was five of us in one room. Both times we had ground floor rooms. The first one we even had a view of the monorail.

I haven’t stayed since, as I’m on a quest to stay at ALL the Disney resorts! It’s top of my Disney Bucket List.

So many reasons I love this place.

8

This resort is perfect to me because it’s chilled, and it never feels crowed – it’s got that  relaxed vibe going on.  All the cast members say Aloha to you, and wear great shirts.

The restaurants available are all great choices for all meals options – Kona cafe, Ohana, Captain Cooks. Kona Café used to be my favourite breakfast – but they took the Big Kahuna off the menu, I was not impressed. I do love the Kona coffee there.

The great bars/lounges – Tambu Lounge has unique drinks, and of course my favourite Trader Sam’s!

4  5

There is a beach, which has chairs and hammocks, you can rest and observe the view – Cinderella’s Castle, and if you pop back to that same place at evening, you can watch the fireworks.

The new addition is the Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows – which I think topped everyone’s bucket list as soon as they was announced! I doubt I will ever afford to stay in one – but a girl can dream.

I also love wondering the biggest shop – BouTiki. This year I even bought a kids Polynesian resort shirt!

2

In the evening, all the tiki torches are lit, and as soon as you’re back from the parks and the crowds, you instantly relax, and get a second wind, and go and grab a coffee (or cocktail).

7

Even when we don’t stay there, I make a point of booking a restaurant there, or just going to visit the resort. My holiday doesn’t feel complete without it!

So if you haven’t considered this resort before, or if costs are too much, maybe try for it a few nights, and maybe like me, your fall in love with the place?

What’s your favourite Disney resort?

Art of Animation Resort – Little Mermaid Photo ops!

At my last visit at the world, I stayed at Art of Animation for three nights. I stayed by myself, so managed to get a Little Mermaid room!

I had visited this hotel on two occasions previously, and had loved the Cars section the most.

Whilst I was at my room, I wondered round my section each evening and noticed how many photo ops there was! I know there is lots in other resorts too, but this one just had so many!

I also had to walk through the Lion King section to get to the food court – and it also had lots! Not once walking through did I not spot someone taking a photo!

I loved it, thought it was great that Disney puts out these statues / pieces / sculptures – whatever you want to call them to add atmosphere, to plus up the experience and for great photo ops!

I’ve added some of my favourite’s from The Little Mermaid section. What about you – have you stayed here? Did you like it? Did you manage to grab some great photo ops?
